Mining over Tor

Someone told me mining in tor is possible, what would happen if you did?

From what i can tell tor is quite slow isn't it? since it routes through a few people its like 2x slower or 3x

Yes, but how does the affect anything? The hard part of the mining happens locally and isn't bound by network speed.
