To answer your question, no.
I understand your question, you want to find out what causes poor router connection, a lot actually.
Misconfigured routers for starters cause bad connections, as well as interference, hackers, the type of router you purchase, and walls.

Depending the size of your home, or place of business, ISP's would sometimes recommend you purchase an extender, because depending on where specifically you place your router, you will notice a drop of connection, or lower wireless bars. Internet speed only affects how fast you connect to a remote server, not the wifi connection you get from a router.

First, If you have messed around with your router recently, you may have miss configured it, lowering it's power input, making its wireless signal lower, so I would double check it's settings to make sure everything is top notch.

Secondly, Interference such as those from Microwaves also affect the connection of your router. This is due to the invisible wave's produced by the microwave, affects the wireless wave's from the router. Hence the word interference, because they interfere with each other.

Thirdly, The hackers part is obvious, make sure you use strong generated passwords, one's that use special characters like "!@#$%" etc...

Fourthly, Not all routers are made equal, some have stronger device outputs than others, so if you bought a cheap router/modem that could be your problem.

Lastly thick walls does also affect the connection, because like my answer above, the thicker the wall the harder and slower the wireless wave's pass through.
