You're always free to simply remove the harddrive and allow them to work on it.
As long as the screen boots up, you're good.

laptop or desktop? sounds like a good excuse to plug it into a TV or monitor if it's a laptop.

i have heard of this if it is a laptop that cause of the blacklight or even the blacklight wires that can cause that i know i had a toshiba do this to a buddy laptop that the black light / harness was no good and needed replacing which i ordered the parts off of ebay for a reasonable price and put it in and repaired it :D

im glad my pc never broke well my laptop did i had to fix it by ordering a new mother board and screen
