DBZ is anime so I'm not sure what you mean? It used to air on Cartoon Network so most people saw it as just a regular cartoon but it's still an anime

Dragon Ball Z is the second series following on from Dragon Ball and they both are classed as Anime meaning the difference is that they both are labelled as animes.
