They’re has always been indie projects but nothing official. They keep everything strictly on nintendo consoles

In general Pokemon seems to be more geared towards handheld systems. Even pokemon GO in a way is a type of handheld game. Like people have already said, Pokemon has mostly stuck to Nintendo, and I would say it's kind of part of their identity and it would be interesting to see if they would ever branch out.

recently downloaded Pokémon reborn to play. Not official obviously but some of these fake games are just so good. Played insurgence a couple years ago and I’ve been itching for another fan made one
