Paying it forward

Has any of you paid it forward before? I just did tonight at Target. The couple in front of me forgot their wallets and had to run back home to get it. Instantly I thought to pay it forward, too bad I forgot my wallet in the car too. So they left to get and I ran out to the car to grab my wallet. I told the cashier I wanted to pay for the other peoples stuff, she was like surprised. I told her just to tell them merry Christmas when they came back and she was like "oh that's really sweet of you". What an awesome feeling to give back. I think they will be pleasantly surprised.
