List of Suggestions

  1. The "Random Thread" button (https://vgy.me/xZLrFy.png) needs to be removed. It does nothing for the forum other than uplifting old threads to the front page.

  2. The "Get Awards for Free" announcement (https://vgy.me/fShd8v.png) seems like a plead for others to advertise the site. I recommend deleting the awards, or at the very least, removing the announcement.

  3. The "Warning Level" in bitposts (https://vgy.me/hiK6EE.png) does not actually show the warning level (which shouldn't even be available to see for anyone other than staff).

  4. If you choose to include awards in profile pages, it would be convenient if we were to be able to click on the award.

  5. There are redundant sections in profile pages (https://vgy.me/qpW5DU.png). If the user does not belong to a group or does not have a signature, then it shouldn't be included. I don't care about the "'Percentage" section, and I have serious doubts that anyone reads it either; it should either be merged with another section or removed.

  6. Unique images for the awards of DF would contradict how the site is basically a collection of ideas from other forums.

  7. I prefer the previous theme for how things aren't cluttered as it is.

  8. Gold, Diamond and Emerald forum need to be merged into one. There's simply not enough activity to keep up with 3 entirely-separate forums.

  9. Admins should be more restrictive with who they deem eligible to be presented with an award. For instance; the administrators have been extremely lenient with the Grammar Nazi award as many of whom aren't qualified. A prime example would be HaXzz, a user with pages and pages of posts that either consists of misplaced punctuation, incomplete sentences, or missing capitalization.

  10. https://vgy.me/qPqrso.png - In regards to the pool of upgrades, one of these user-images just don't belong. I've seen this image before, and I'm not even certain if the person who added this had the rights to do so. It doesn't even relate to any of the other upgrade images.

  11. Have DF staff members follow some rule of sticking with the same appropriate color. That goes saying for the user-image, the user-style, and the user-title. Not having a certain regulation implicates a problem with differentiating staff and causes members to not be able to change their username color to anything that shouldn't be a problem to use. Plus, it looks repulsive in terms of the theme (https://vgy.me/3KH3Tx.png).

Thanks for the feedback. I'll get some of these suggestions done.

I would also advise locking threads older than a month to get users to begin creating new threads.

I'll be including more suggestions.

I agree. Other forums I have been a part of (as staff)  had a rule, not so much an auto lock feature, but not to bump threads older than a month.

That's a tricky thing to deal with although gravedigging a thread is frowned upon, if we lock all threads over a month old it will just end up causing a repeat of threads over and over and over.

Which is far less of a problem when compared to the amount of users posting on threads over a year old. Plus, with that being the case, people wouldn't have a reason to make threads as there wouldn't be anything to post about.

These would be nice

I first want to thank you for the feedback and with development in the runs, I will certainly be looking at a number of aspects. Some of which you have mentioned here today.

1. I agree we should be removing this feature as is pretty pointless.
2. I agree again we should close that thread and discontinue the awards.
3. I think this was added as an upgraded member feature?
4. Could be done but you can see them all on the awards page, it's just to present what you've earned.
5. Some people like the general percentage, stuff you haven't filled in shouldn't be there though.
6. N/A
7. We're working on a new theme right now. No ETA on this though.
8. Agreed, we are going to be merging a lot of forums soon.
9. Overall I think we need to visit each award and remove them from people on a standards level.
10. Totally agree with you, we need to change the upgrades system, images, and overall settings.
11. Meh, I don't know for this one. I think groups need to be re-evaluated anyway.

I am with you 100% in this instance. I think however we need to lock all general threads across the board after 45 days.
Leaks after 1 year, see how that goes and if we still have issues then reduce it on a 3 month period until it is perfect.

In reference to suggestion #11, the idea being that I don't want to see any other colors other than the one they're intended to use:

Administrators should have a red color, while 'staff' (why not change it to "Moderators"?) should have a pink color. A moderator using a total different color doesn't sit right for two reasons:

A: it looks sloppy. It's disorganized, and overall staff members should have some way of identifying themselves (other than their userimage)
B: Both normal users and staff can use the same color which can be confusing. And with that being the case, normal members would probably be discouraged from using standard colors that staff members are using. (https://vgy.me/6ferHo.png)

We've changed the color of the usernames for the staff team at present. I want to sit down with the rese of the administration team and go through all the forums.
I want to review the following things to start with in general forum terms;

  1. The current usergroups, colors, images, perks etc.
  2. The current forums, reduce/merge some in cases.
  3. Awards, check all awards and remove some or all.
  4. Overall forum team design, management, systems, and concept.
I am loving the feedback you are giving us and will certainly be looking to implement a lot of it as time goes on.
