There is a movie series on Netflix called VHS and I believe in the last one, there was a clip of a guy who made a gateway to a parallel dimension but the difference he soon finds out is a satanic world.

Do you believe this could be a thing?

That is technically another dimension/parallel world. Considering you have to go through a portal to go there.
