Honestly I use btc but don't actually keep up with all the logistics or w/e behind it.
I can say though, that I have heard this same thing many times before and it just keeps rising so far.

the store it was in shut down with no warning

it won't die so easily. it may fluctuate as always but nothing can replace it. There are 1000s of coins out there but none could raise a single threat
