An horizontal autoclave is a pressure chamber which is used to sterilize the medical tools and equipments and subjecting them to high pressure of saturated steam maximum up to 121°C for the period of 15 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tool or the medical device. Other types of autoclave testing instruments are used in chemical industry to test the quality of the vulcanized rubbers and plating or coatings, and also for the hydrothermal synthesis, growing crystals under high pressures and temperatures. Synthetic quartz crystals that are used in the electronic industry are grown in autoclaves.
Uses
Sterilization of pharmaceutical vacuum autoclave is widely used in medicine, microbiology, body piercing, mycology, veterinary science, dentistry, funeral homes and many more. The size of the autoclaves can vary depending upon the product that needs to be sterilized. Typical loads include glassware, surgical instruments, other waste, equipment and medical wastes.
A noteworthy application of autoclaves is the pre-disposal sterilization and treatment of waste material like pathogenic hospital waste. A machine in this category largely operates on the same principle as conventional autoclaves so that they can neutralize potentially infectious agents by utilizing the pressurized steam and superheated water. The new generations of waste converters are capable enough of achieving the similar effects without any kind of pressure vessel to sterilize the material like gowns, rubber materials, dressings, gowns, gloves, etc. It is mainly useful for the materials that cannot stand firm with the high temperature of hot air oven. Autoclaves are widely used to cure the composites and in the process of vulcanization of the natural rubber. The high pressure that autoclaves allow helps to ensure that the best physical properties of the material are attainable.
Use of sterilizer autoclave in Medicines
A medical autoclave instrument creates steam to sterilize the medical devices and other instruments. This means that all the viruses, bacteria, spores and fungi are inactivated. Autoclaves are widely used to set medical laboratories and in other places as well to ensure the sterilization of the objects. In the modern era, many procedures employ single-use products rather than using the sterilized and reusable items. Firstly it happens with the hypodermic needles, but nowadays many surgical instruments are commonly used as needle holders, forceps, scalpel, etc. rather than using the reusable items.
The autoclave is the best testing instrument when you need to sterilize your medical devices. The device is widely used in medical laboratories to sterilize the medical tools and devices.
