Today I want to share a tutorial how to automatically remove adult content, pornography, and obscene content. The Terms of Service on web hosting is really strict and can get your account temporarily suspended or even worse terminated. Especially for those using free hosting, I recommend you keep on reading. In this tutorial, I will explain briefly on how to use the default tools of Mybb for an automatically removal tool to protect your community's minors and from your hosting account being banned.
Step #1
Go to mydomain.com/admin and use your information to get authorized into the Admin Panel. Once you granted access,go to mydomain.com/admin/index.php?module=config.
Step #2
You should be on your forum's configuration page. Now you need to go to the Word filters on the section links to the left.
Step #3
Now you can enter a link to adult content or pornography content
Word*
Enter the word which you wish to be filtered. The '*' character represents any single character (a-zA-z0-9_)
donotenter.com (Change the link you want to remove).
Replacement
Enter the string which will replace the filtered word (leave blank , asterisks will be shown).
[Link Removed]
Step #4
Now you should try using the link on your forum to see if the removal works! If the link you entered shows [Link Removed], you are good to add another link!
This tutorial is to show you how to remove links as well words you do not want on your site. This will come in handy one day and prevent your website to shut down just because of a stupid link to content they will not allow. Tips!
- Trolls enjoy messing up the sites and posting links and other content. I highly recommend you limit new accounts from submitting images since use cannot use this feature for pictures.
- Do not waste your time filtering image links! Links change and many link creating sites are out there! Make sure you have an active moderation staff for these issues.
- You can use this filter tool to filter offensive words.
- Try to add all the common sites and ask staff to search for some more to add. If users post new links to tick you off, you have a new site to remove. Live and learn!
- You never know when your hosting looks at your site, and boom! Account unavailable/ suspended.
